July Garden Notes

I have many clients say they have a small area want to put a garden in. There is no area that is too small to build healthy soil and grow produce or gorgeous pollinator flowers. You can even start small with a few wine barrels and try it out. I always ask clients what they want to do with the space? How do they want to use the veggies or flowers? The space should always be catered to the client’s needs. Do you want to build a garden? Do you want to help the planet? Are you not sure where to start? Let’s set up a consult and I am happy to help!

What to do for your garden in July?

It is finally time to harvest. Are you enjoying the delicious tomato, zucchini, cucumbers and some eggplant? Be sure to harvest veggies when ready to avoid animals getting them. Also the more you pick your produce it allows more nutrients to build more veggies for you to pick later. Overwatering tomatoes makes them soggy and flavorless so limit watering of your tomatoes to once per week to keep them happy.  Be sure to water all other plants and veggies deeply in the cool evenings or very early in the morning. Add in some rice straw mulch to keep moisture in during the hot days.
